Overview

UW Credit Union is seeking a Membership Services Compliance Coordinator to play a vital role in maintaining regulatory and operational excellence within our Membership Services division. As a brand-new role, this position offers a unique opportunity to shape how we approach compliance in a growing department, making a direct impact from day one.

 

Are you a compliance-minded professional with a knack for navigating ambiguity? As a subject matter expert in deposit regulations, including electronic funds transfers, you will assess current processes and identify areas for improvement. You’ll then recommend and implement changes to ensure alignment with internal policies and state and federal regulations.

 

Reporting to the Deposit Services Manager, you’ll serve as a trusted advisor, verifying the accuracy of transactions, identifying and resolving discrepancies, and ensuring our processes meet the highest standards of compliance.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

Audit and Compliance Management – 50%

  • Lead and support internal and external audits by managing all related activities, ensuring timely completion, and resolving findings in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary compliance contact for Membership Services, analyzing and presenting audit results and compliance reports to senior leadership with actionable recommendations.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and proactively integrate new requirements into policies, procedures, and risk assessment tools.
  • Review and refine deposit compliance procedures to ensure clarity, accuracy, and alignment with current regulations and internal standards.
  • Investigate compliance issues, perform quality reviews, and partner with internal teams to implement corrective actions and prevent future risks.

Risk Management – 25%

  • Oversee system upgrades and software changes to ensure compliance and operational procedures remain accurate and effective.
  • Collaborate with project teams to evaluate regulatory impact, minimize risk, and ensure alignment with policies during system or process changes.
  • Serve as a compliance subject matter expert, staying current on deposit regulations and leading initiatives such as disaster recovery planning and regulatory integration.

Compliance Operations and Cross-Functional Support – 15%

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver training, guidance, and support on updated procedures and deposit compliance issues.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure consistent communication, transparency, and alignment on compliance efforts and audit outcomes.
  • Collaborate on bi-annual risk assessments and use data analysis to identify trends, highlight areas of improvement, and reduce compliance risk.

Champion Engagement and Continuous Learning and Development – 10%

  • Maintain deep expertise in Membership Services operations, products, and compliance requirements, with a focus on specialized account types like Business, IRA, Trust, and Estate accounts.
