$19.08 - $24.43

Your rate of pay will be based on applicable experience

Shift: PMs Shift length: 8 Hours
Days off: Variable Hours per pay period: 48

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, the Patient Care Assistant may give patient care in the Enloe Medical Center Nursing Units. They perform routine duties including hourly rounding, perform safety checks, and assists patients with activities of daily living, such as assistance with patient elimination, hygiene, comfort, safety, nutrition, and progress mobility as defined in the Patient Care Standards Manual. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Patient Care Assistant provides a support function to the nurse coordinating special tasks and assisting where needed. May provide a safety function for the nurse by providing therapeutic care and psychological supportive services to the confused, combative or mentally ill patient, and providing in person sitting as needed. The Patient Care Assistant collaborates with the nursing assistant and other members of the patient care team to provide care in accordance with the plan of care. The Patient Care Assistant supports and contributes to the service of excellence mission of Enloe Health.  The Patient Care Assistant may need to administer CPR to patients in an emergency situation.

EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:

Desired:

Experience with direct patient care

Completion of an ROP Program in the field of healthcare

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

Current CPR certification

Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) Training within 1 year of hire or transfer (dept tracked)

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:

Must be personable, compassionate, and caring individual with a willingness to learn new tasks.  Good interpersonal and communication skills.  Must be flexible, reliable, self-motivated and possess positive problem-solving skills.  Must be able to work effectively with staff and public. Must demonstrate communication skills and sensitivity for the hospitalized patient and family including those with psychological needs. Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality at all times.  Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
