This position is Full Time, Night Shift (three 12-hour shifts per week), with Every Third Weekend Rotation
OB Patient Care/Scrub Tech: Under supervision of the registered nurse, the OB Patient Care/Scrub Tech performs a variety of tasks and services to assist in the provision of care and comfort to patients in the Family Maternity Unit. Reports and records observations; contributes to the efficient functioning of the unit; and all duties are performed in accordance with established policies, procedures, standards and guidelines.
This position also performs “scrub” technologist duties for scheduled and unscheduled cesarean sections, and assists with the draping and utilization of instruments for OB related surgical procedures, while demonstrating knowledge in the basic principles of sterile technique and sterilization procedures.

Qualifications
Education:
- One of the following is required:
- Also requires a high-school graduate diploma or GED
Licensure/Certification/Registry:
- Maintains current CPR certification
- CNA certification preferred
Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Successful completion of Nursing Team On-boarding, unit based orientation (including OR technician training program) and clinical competency validation within 60 days of hire.
Responsibilities
I. Performs and documents nursing care measures to meet the physical needs of patients as directed by the registered nurse. Illustrative tasks and expectations include, but are not limited to, the following:
A. Provides hygiene and comfort measures, assuring privacy and preventing undue exposure:

E. Other related needs:
II. Performs and documents monitoring procedures; observes and reports the patient response. Illustrative tasks and expectations include, but are not limited to, the following:
A. Obtains vital signs (B/P and TPR).
B. Obtains weight in kg (standing, chair, or bed scale) and reports deviation from previous weight.
C. Empties drainage collection devices.
D. Performs blood glucose monitoring.
E. Observes and reports unusual conditions and/or change in patient behavior or appearance.
III. Performs therapeutic measures/procedure, observes and reports changes, deviations from normal. Illustrative tasks and expectations include, but are not limited to, the following:
A. Application of heat; i.e., K-pad.
B. Application of cold; i.e., ice bags, sponge baths.
C. Therapeutic baths; i.e. Sitz, Aveeno.
D. Obtains routine non-sterile specimens.
E. Assists with patient preparation for surgical, therapeutic, and/or diagnostic procedures.
