Job Description

We are seeking Certified Welding Inspectors (AWS CWI certified) to join our team on large multi-year projects. You will be a part of seasoned, highly qualified team that performs geotechnical and materials engineering, Construction Materials Testing (CMT), and construction inspections of some of the most highly complex and transformational infrastructure projects in our region. Notable Atlas projects in West Texas include the Children's Museum ("La Nube"), I-10 Widening, Transmountain, Border Expressway (formerly Northeast Parkway), Starlight Event Center, and the almost every major roadway in El Paso. We will be supporting and you will have an opportunity to be a part of advanced manufacturing, mission critical, DOT, and enormous federal projects in our region. Additionally, we operate as a team and will make sure your input is valued as we win and deliver these transformational projects.

Core Responsibilities

  • In accordance with training and the specified procedures, perform inspection of construction processes, inspection and testing of various construction materials for compliance with specifications, codes, and standards. Perform pre-task planning prior to executing work.

  • Prepare timely and accurate reports and documentation of inspection activities. Accuracy, attention to detail and timeliness of results required.

  • Read and interpret construction specifications and drawings, and follow operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals to understand the requirements for inspections.

  • Provides technical support to less experienced special inspectors which includes feedback and coaching on best practices in inspection techniques, sampling, testing, and reporting. Ensure that inspectors have the competencies to apply technical knowledge to construction and material assessments.

  • Work collaboratively with managers and other staff to ensure safety protocols are followed.

  • Obtain and maintain advanced certification levels to support unique project requirements.

  • Demonstrate experience and proficiency in multiple areas of field testing and inspection.

  • Clean, calibrate, maintain, and store testing equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results. Maintains equipment in good working order and adheres to related calibration and storage.

  • May assist in development of scope for testing and inspection services.
