Job Description
AECOM has an opening for an Electrical Engineer II to support our growing Buildings + Places teams in Chicago, IL.
Job Summary/Responsibilities:
The Electrical Engineer will work in a highly collaborative environment on a wide range of projects. The ideal candidate will have a passion for designing building electrical systems. The Engineer will be responsible for performing technical calculations and design, understanding the project requirements and the effort required to complete the work and applying critical thinking to quickly recognize issues and be part of the solution.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out engineering tasks.
- Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
- Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
- Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids.
- Research and apply building code, regulatory and industry code requirements.
- Prepare electrical design calculations, utilize electrical and lighting design software.
- Responsible for supporting the electrical engineering design work on assigned projects under the guidance of senior staff.
- Coordinating with multiple disciplines and ensuring that projects are delivered within budget and on schedule.
- Ensures discipline plans meet overall project team requirements for scope and schedule.
- Stays current on codes and technologies appropriate to electrical, telecom, and security.
- Ensures conformance with standards and established design practices, applicable codes, and technical adequacy of design and construction.
- Develops designs within a BIM design environment.
- Completes assigned engineering and design tasks in accordance with client specified criteria and applicable codes and standards.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- BA/BS in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering or similar +2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Experience with Revit
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience AutoCAD, AGI 32 design software
- Excellent communication skills; articulate, assertive, and confident
- Creative thinker with effective teamwork skills
- Strong written and verbal skills with ability to support engineering tasks
Additional Information
- Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $129,000
- Relocation assistance is not available for this role
- Sponsorship is available this role
- This is a hybrid position with 2-3 required days in the office/field and up to 2 days work from home
