JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Mathematics Department in the Eberly College of Science has a vacancy available for a Part-Time Undergraduate Research Assistant for Summer 2024. The selected candidate will work in the theory of machine-learning motivated bifurcation theory, specifically on learning and predicting the chaotic behavior of large-scale ordinary differential equations. The selected candidate will work with a faculty member and Ph.D. students working with this faculty member to understand the expressibility of neural networks in the context of dynamical systems and how it can be used to predict their dynamical properties.  Strong skills in mathematics and in particular, analysis, bifurcation theory and scientific computing are preferred.
