A Brief Overview
Direct the functions of nutrition therapy services (such as nutrition assessment, nutrition counseling/consultation, performance improvement), and the management of the clinical nutrition team to ensure high quality nutritional care is provided to patients. Ensures patient satisfaction, quality care, regulatory agency compliance, and good public relations are achieved through the safe and efficient use of resources. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.
What you will do
- Works with Nutrition Therapy Director to establish goals and oversee implementation of clinical nutrition care based upon facility’s medical direction and patient population.
- Leads, directs, coaches, trains, and develops Nutrition Therapy team members.
- Performs as designated lead in assigned areas which may include 1 or more of the following: • Coordinates facility nutrition formulary and/or formula mixing with formula techs • Interns and /or new hires and coordination of experience • National publications and reviewing of literature • Inpatient unit coordination • Outpatient unit coordination
- Oversees systems and processes to ensure the strategic and operational objectives are met.
- Assesses the nutritional status of neonates/infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult and/or geriatric patient through documentation in the medical record.
- Participates in facility-wide and department Performance Improvement Program, and on Performance Improvement teams to improve processes and patient care.
- Communicates effectively with all team members, patients and families through conferences, individual consultation and committee participation.
- Performs other job functions as assigned or requested.
Education/Formal Training Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree Dietitics
- Bachelor's Degree Food and Nutrition
- Bachelor's Degree Food Systems Management
Work Experience Requirements
- 3-5 years Registered dietitian
Licenses and Certifications Requirements
- Dietitian/Nutritionist Mississippi - Mississippi State Department of Health
- Dietitian/Nutritionist Tennessee - Tennessee Board of Dietitians/Nutritionist Examiners
- Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist - Commission on Dietetic Registration
Supervision Provided by this Position
- Serves in a lead capacity for Nutrition Therapy associates within the facility.
Physical Demands
- The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, carrying, and repetitive motion.
- Must have good balance and coordination.
- The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
- The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
- The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work.
