Title and Summary

Principal - Product Manager Technical

Overview:
Mastercard is seeking a Principal Product Manager – Technical to lead the strategic vision, roadmap, and execution of an internal product that drives operational efficiency and innovation. This role will act as the front door to the team—responsible for owning and managing all incoming product requirements, new functionalities, and feature requests.
Reporting directly to the SVP, and collaborating closely with two Vice Presidents and one Director, you will serve as the critical point of contact for aligning product direction with organizational goals. Your focus will be on translating complex business needs into actionable plans while partnering cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and other internal stakeholders.
This position is hybrid, based in O’Fallon, MO, and requires three days per week onsite.

Role:
• Work closely with a cross-functional team to lead product development efforts that cross between waterfall and agile workflow, identify synergies, propose the most efficient solutions, and resolve issues in a timely and cost effective manner.
• Define and drive the product roadmap and strategic vision, ensuring alignment with broader business objectives.
• Serve as the entry point for all new requests, including features, functionality enhancements, and technical requirements—triaging, prioritizing, and assigning to the appropriate teams.
• Partner with engineering, architecture, and operations teams to ensure timely delivery of scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.
• Gather and refine detailed product requirements from internal stakeholders, translating them into user stories and technical documentation.
• Manage stakeholder expectations and serve as the voice of the product, ensuring transparency, progress tracking, and alignment.
• Collaborate with executive leadership (SVP, VPs, Director) to identify key opportunities and influence strategic decisions.
• Monitor product performance and continuously improve internal processes based on data-driven insights and team feedback.
• Ensure end-to-end product lifecycle ownership—from intake and design to deployment and internal adoption.

All About You:
• Proven experience in product management and product development preferably in technical or platform-oriented roles.
• Proven technical expertise in creating integrated product solutions across multiple categories.
• Experience managing internal products or platforms that support enterprise operations.
• Strong understanding of product lifecycle management, Agile methodologies, and stakeholder engagement.
• Global payment industry experience preferred.
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills; ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Skilled in writing clear and actionable user stories and product documentation for technical teams.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
• Experience acting as a gatekeeper or intake lead for new product requests is highly desirable.
• Strong business acumen combined with a customer-focused approach and analytical skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Business, or related field. Equivalent practical experience may also be considered.
