We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Job Summary
The second level, of a three level developmental series, this intermediate role is responsible for providing technical support in continuous emissions measurement systems (CEMS) testing configuration and reporting to state and federal agencies. Distinguished from the Air Emissions Monitoring Specialist I by the increased responsibility in the application of technical or engineering skills and regulatory knowledge in analyzing emissions data and applying technical knowledge and understanding of regulatory requirements to ensure company compliance with local, state and federal laws. This role performs routine to moderately complex work assignments and tasks with limited supervision and direction. Under the supervision of a supervisor or work leader, performs engineering or technical calculations, analysis, research and design to further develop professional knowledge and abilities and to provide technical support in designated company area or specialized function. This may include analyzing and evaluating systems, equipment, process improvements, and programs for assurance that they are modified, operated, and maintained in accordance with Company policy and procedure and regulatory requirements. Drafts technical and audit reports to support findings, or report events and developing compliance strategies as an individual contributor or as part of a team. This role does not function as a technician in modifying, operating or maintaining systems or equipment. Requires sufficient experience to have developed expertise in the area, with a working understanding and knowledge of environmental federal, state, and local laws pertaining to plant emissions (e.g. coal). Incumbent may be required on occasion to go on plant site, to observe/participate in emission testing conducted from exhaust stack platforms at heights of up to 350 feet.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of CEMS/COMS operation, maintenance, and design (3-4 years) OR directly related work experience (3-4 years). This working knowledge of CEMS/COMS is necessary to create Excess Emissions Reports, create Monitoring Plans, review Test Protocols, review Audit Reports, support CEMS/COMS equipment upgrades, and other reporting activities
- Working knowledge, technical expertise and work experience to perform essential duties of the job using EPA’s ECMPS and CEMS DAHS software.
- Demonstrates a solid knowledge and understanding of CEMS operation, maintenance and technical design applications.
- Knowledge of the design and operation of moderate to complex systems and equipment.
- Knowledge of EPA AIR regulations that apply to Electric Generating Units (EGUs) including 40CFR60 NSPS sections D, Da, Db, GG, and KKKK; 40CFR75 and Appendices A & B.
- Must understand basic routine CEMS testing pass/fail criteria and required test scheduling basics.
- Working knowledge in the operation and application of personal computers and software programs (Microsoft Office).
- Possesses good oral and written communication skills to include basic technical writing skills to a variety of audiences.
- Solid analytical and abstract thinking skills.
- Understanding of federal, state, and local environmental requirements involving plant/ station air emissions.
- Ability to problem solve and to quickly process information
- Ability to interpret EPA Air regulations and practices with general supervision
- Ability to coordinate multiple tasks
Preferred Skills, Abilities and Experience:
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Familiarity with 40CFR63 EGU MACT (MATS) and/or Industrial Boiler MACT rules.
