Lonza Houston is seeking an experienced Associate Director, Engineering to join our team. Reporting to the Sr. Director, Facilities and Engineering this role will be responsible for the Site Master Plan, execution and results of Site Projects, shared services contracts and local Capital Expenditure (capex).
The Associate Director, Engineering will also provide leadership to ensure that all the site projects are completed on time and within budget and provide strategic support to the business for development and compliance from the
Engineering perspective.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop the Site Master Plan and Site Projects strategy
Provide leadership and technical expertise for Site Projects
Ensures that the concepts of Operational Excellence are deployed throughout the department and continuous improvement and elimination of waste are ingrained into all activities
Develops operating budgets, monitors and reports on cost center budgets
Lead Engineering Study Requests (ESR) and Capital Authorization Requests (CARs), especially larger, more complex requests
Ensure that engineering work takes place in a manner consistent with Lonza policy and procedure and consistent with other LCM and Group facilities and standards. Ensure that all engineering solutions are designed and implemented in accordance with accepted standards of cGMP and Good Engineering Practice
Develops and implements systems to ensure that the Engineering/Facilities infrastructure supports site goals. This includes drawing systems, project engineering, etc.
Ensure that we have engineering and facilities programs that are efficient and defendable during inspections and audits.
Responsible for establishing objectives for all assigned staff. Provide direction during the year as to the priority of these objectives and provide feedback on results. Make recommendations for development of skills and performance, and counsel employees on career options and alternatives
Responsible for the timely and quality execution of all projects and other assigned responsibilities. Ensure that all project proposals are of a sound technical basis, are a sensible allocation of company funds, and in short offer the best solution
Responsible for the Site local capex expenditure assignment and monitoring
Development synergies with other areas and departments
Responsible for the Site Sustainability Program
Interact with corporate teams and implement global initiatives
Develop and justify Site Capacity Projects
Prepares budgets for and reviews cost center spending within organizational control
Accountable for the Site Projects and Site Capex budget performance and results
Perform other duties as assigned
Key Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or similar field required
MS in Engineering or related field or MBA preferred
Business fluent in Spanish preferred
Experience with 6S and Lean Manufacturing, Lean Six Sigma Green belt or black belt preferred
10+ years of relative experience with Biotechnology or Pharma experience highly preferred
