About the role

Manager, Product Management - Prometheus Financial Core (PFC)

Product Management at Capital One is a booming, vibrant craft that requires reimagining the status quo, finding value creation opportunities, and driving innovative and sustainable customer experiences through technology. We believe our portfolio of businesses and investments in growth and transformation will result in a company with the scale, brand, capabilities, talent, and values to succeed as the digital revolution transforms our society and our industry.

About the Team
As a Product Manager, you will be at the forefront of defining what high availability looks like for an updated, cloud-native bank. We focus on the "well-managed" aspect of our infrastructure, ensuring that as we scale, our stability scales with us. You will own the roadmap for Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs), specifically focusing on Availability and Resilience. This role requires a blend of technical curiosity and product rigor; you will partner with Enterprise Architects to ensure our platforms can withstand systemic shocks while maintaining peak performance for our customers.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the Platform Reliability Strategy: You will define the roadmap for system-wide fault isolation and blast radius reduction. You leverage cell-based architecture to ensure that localized service disruptions do not impact the broader customer base or compromise platform integrity.

  • Define Availability Standards: Support the definition and implementation of Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Error Budgets. You will work with engineering partners to ensure these aren't just metrics on a dashboard, but actionable drivers of the product development lifecycle.

  • Drive Engineering Partnership: Serve as the bridge between business intent and technical implementation. You will translate complex resilience needs into technical specifications, partnering with engineers on system design reviews and circuit-breaking logic.

  • Stakeholder & Risk Management: Partner across organizational boundaries with Risk, Cyber, and Line of Business (LOB) stakeholders to align on uptime requirements and mitigation strategies. You will use data-driven storytelling to communicate platform health and the business impact of resilience investments.

  • Problem Solving & Insights: Leverage data to identify potential single points of failure and advocate for architectural improvements. You will stay ahead of the curve on industry trends in cloud reliability to ensure Capital One remains a leader in platform stability.

We’re Looking For:

  • A Systems-Minded Strategist: You recognize that product reliability is a direct result of robust system design. You apply your technical fluency in back-end complexities to translate architectural trade-offs into a roadmap that prioritizes fault isolation and platform stability.

  • An Execution-Oriented Manager: Someone who thrives in the details of the product lifecycle—managing a backlog, writing crisp acceptance criteria, and helping a tech team clear hurdles.

  • An Advocate for Quality: You believe that a feature isn't "done" until it is proven to be stable and scalable. You have a keen eye for detail and a passion for preventing bad outcomes for customers before they happen.

Capital One Product Framework

In this role, you’ll be expected to demonstrate proficiency in five key areas which we consider to be the foundation for successful Product management:

  • Human Centered - Obsesses about internal and external customer needs to reimagine and innovate product solutions

  • Business Focused - Delivers game-changing outcomes by focusing on leverage and execution excellence

  • Technology Driven - Leverages technology to deliver innovative and resilient solutions that enable both near term and long term value

  • Integrated Problem Solving - Identifies and resolves complex problems to deliver outcomes while mitigating product risks

  • Transformational Leadership - Leads cross functional teams to solve customer problems and drive organizational alignment

Basic Qualifications:
