Job DescriptionStarting Salary: $61,907.39 ($29.76 hourly)
Top Salary: $92,861.09 ($44.64) - after time and merit increases

- Uses computerized diagnostic equipment to diagnose and repair vehicles, including the following components: computer-controlled engines, transmissions, climate control, steering, braking, safety restraints, tire pressure monitors, and other networked (CAN) computer systems in the vehicle.
- Uses JCSO fleet software to retrieve, research, and create work orders. Uses software to bill parts from inventory and is responsible for monitoring, ordering and restocking parts.
- Installs, diagnoses, and removes, emergency lighting and siren equipment in vehicles.
- Collaborates with the JCSO IT team; installs, diagnoses, and maintains laptop computers, secure internet connections, body camera systems, and two-way radios in vehicles and equipment.
- Enters and reviews information into secure law enforcement computer programs to open and access records relating to accidents.
- Assists JCSO Deputies and other law enforcement agencies in vehicle searches, working with evidence, dismantling vehicles used in crimes that may include being exposed to homicide scenes, bio-matter/bio-hazards, and other situations relating to evidence and investigations.
- Performs welding and metal work on vehicles and during fabrication of parts used on vehicles and equipment.
- Clean and sanitize Bio-Hazard vehicles, wash and fuel vehicles, clean the shop and grounds, move equipment for JCSO events, clear vehicles of snow, shovel and plow snow, move special equipment around the county during emergencies and other situations. Works in all-weather conditions.

Requires experience in data entry and reconciliation using various computer programs.
If not currently automotive certified, must obtain 2 certifications within 2 years.
