Role and Responsibilities

This Device Quality Manager role will be responsible for overseeing Samsung Mobile Products and providing Best-in-Class experience to our customers.  This is a highly visible role and great opportunity to make a substantial impact on Samsung products.  The DQM will define and implement processes for resolving issues and will be responsible for driving necessary resources for successful completion of resolution.  These responsibilities will include specification working with internal quality assurance team, Korean Headquarters’ members, and customers for quality management and ongoing improvements.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Proactively evaluate products throughout its life cycle and drive higher standard of measurement

  • Identify fundamental risk of all products throughout the life cycle and drive corrective actions cross-functionally with internal and external teams

  • Lead weekly quality meetings with partners and manage quality escalation issues

  • Manage on on-going quality issues and the effectiveness of corrective action items

  • Generate product quality plan and strategy for continuously improving performance at every levels

  • Provide regular Executive level communication of all products’ performance overview

  • Working closely with the customer in order to set up new model return for quality inspections and supporting R&D engineers to make a deep-dive analysis for EWP phones

  • Generating formal customer reports documenting and informing management of the results and issues found during early returned phone inspection and responsible for communicating with the internal department regarding product quality and working for continuous improvement in a timely manner

Skills and Qualifications

Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree required, MS preferred (Engineering degree program concentration preferred but not required)

  • 6+ years of experience in Quality Control; developing process quality plans, quality audits, and driving corrective actions and failure analysis efforts

  • Working knowledge of product development, quality management, general manufacturing and service operations

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

  • Fluency required in Korean and English (both spoken and written) 

  • The ability to lift, move, or adjust general test equipment, boxes, supplies, materials or products weighing up to 50 pounds using proper materials handling equipment and procedures

  • High level of visual acuity, numeric/character distinction and moderate color distinction for accurate test equipment operation, for information analysis and error recognition

  • High hand/finger dexterity with fine motor coordination skills to perform electronic component repair work

  • Machines, tools, equipment, and work aids representative and commonly associated with electronic component test, assembly and repair work including test equipment, testing devices, technician hand tools, cables, etc.; first aid kit is available and prescription safety glasses are required in certain test areas.

  • 15% travel domestic or international required (up to 2 times per year on average)

Additional Preferred Skill Areas and Qualifications:
