About the role

Position Summary   The intern performs duties within an assigned department, supporting an organizational unit while gaining knowledge of the business operations of a public transportation agency serving Los Angeles County. 

In this position, the successful intern will:

  • Perform analytical work, participate in departmental projects, and carry out special assignments in support of the client’s Program Management department.
  • Gather and compile data and prepare simple statistical and narrative reports.
  • Generate correspondence and presentations.
  • Research and prepare reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of graphs, programs, and posters.
  • Coordinate with other client departments and programs.
  • Deploy applicable business software applications.
  • Meet tight time constraints and deadlines.
  • Compile and analyze data.
  • Understand, interpret, and apply policies and procedures.
  • Follow oral and written instructions.
  • Handle highly confidential information.

Position Qualifications

  • Must be working toward a Bachelor′s degree in engineering, construction management, business administration, public administration, or a related field.
  • No experience required.
  • Communicating effectively orally and in writing is required.
  • Interacting professionally with various levels of client’s employees and outside representatives is required.
  • Experience with analyzing situations, identifying problems, and recommending solutions preferred.
  • Ability to prepare correspondence required.
  • Ability to operate computers and general office equipment required.
  • A valid California Class C Driver’s License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions required.
Additional Requirements Physical: Standing or sitting for long periods; must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times and spend extended hours in front of a computer screen. Cognitive: Problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills; computer and software skills; and ability to read and interpret text online or in printed form. About PMA At PMA, employee well-being is a daily priority.
