Job Summary: The clinical manager is a registered nurse who is responsible for the organization and coordination of home care services (RN, PT, OT, ST, MSW and aide) related to delivering patient care consistent with regulatory and departmental standards. Responsibilities include assisting with budgeting and cost containment, coordinate staffing, supervise and complete ongoing evaluation of home care visit activities and personnel. They must assure that the staff is competent to accomplish their assigned duties. The clinical manager must possess the managerial and leadership capabilities required to promote professional autonomy and growth among all staff and to provide an environment for professional collaboration which is necessary for safe, efficient and effective patient care. The manager must be cognizant of the needs of the community and assure that all care is patient and family centered. The clinical manager functions in the role of agency supervisor as described in the Illinois home care licensure rules and regulations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates leadership abilities while appropriately following the chain of command.
- Demonstrates fiscal responsibility.
- Supports patient’s rights and responsibilities, including respect of cultural and religious diversity.
- Demonstrated flexibility to meet staffing needs of department/organization and appearance.
- Maintains compliance with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) Home Health Agency Conditions of Participation, the Illinois Department of Public Health Home Care Regulations and the Joint Commission home care standards.
- Demonstrates knowledge in clinical care and procedures in the home health department.
- Shares knowledge and skills with colleagues and others, acting as a role model/mentor.
- Utilizes effective communication skills in interactions with employees, customers and peers and promotes teamwork.
- Coordinates the Case Conference meetings to keep staff informed of patient care and update on education.
- Assists with registered nursing visits and supervisory visits.
- Possesses authority to extend offers and/or termination of employment, conduct performance evaluations and/or counseling.
- Seeks additional knowledge and skills appropriate to the practice setting by developing and/or participating in educational programs and activities, conferences, professional meetings and self-directed learning.
Qualifications
Education Requirements and Other Requirements:
Education Level: BSN required or pursuing.
Certification/Licensure: Professional registered nurse licensed in the State of Illinois.
Experience Requirements: Extensive experience in home care with the minimum of ten years home
care management preferred.
Other Requirements: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary.
