What YOU will do
- Design major components or major portions of functional systems, technically advanced prototypes, and promotional or specific products using computer design and engineering systems.
- Develop or improve products and facilitates manufacturing operations.
- Develop data and make layouts, sketches, and notes for design proposals.
- Investigate pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost.
- Design, develop and test metallic or non-metallic structures or materials and their related fabrication processes for use in engineering designs.
- Confer and communicate with engineers, customers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects or products.
- Drive the design of new products and processes, and the improvement and maintenance of existing products to ensure that current and future needs of customers and the business are met.
- Select materials across key product platforms to ensure accordance with organizational standards and safety regulations.
- Apply scientific principles to innovate, design, develop, and implement technologies, components, sub-systems, machines, tools, and systems to ensure compliance to specifications, requirements, and customer guarantees across applicable operating conditions.
- Ensure novel ideas and implementations are captured and protected using applicable IP processes and tools.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Must possess at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field and at least 10 years of progressive experience as a Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Design Engineer or related role. In the alternative, at least a master’s degree or its equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field and at least 7 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Design Engineer or related role would be acceptable.
- Must possess at least 7 years of experience with industry design and documentation standards (e.g., ASME, ISO) and engineering tools such as FMEAs, FEAs, and DFMA to validate design content.
- Must possess at least 7 years of experience with Geometric tolerancing and dimensioning (ASME Y14.5M) and stack-ups and fits.
- Must possess at least 6 years of experience designing and leading the complete development of aircraft interiors (Galleys, Lavatories, Closets, Front Row monuments, partitions, class dividers, etc.) using composite materials (honeycomb panels) using Siemens NX and TeamCenter for life cycle management.
- Must possess at least 6 years of experience in design for manufacturing and manufacturing troubleshooting of monuments for aircraft interiors using Siemens NX to review the design intent and simulate the problem.
- Must possess and at least 6 years of experience with monuments overweight, static testing for emergency landing loads failures, abuse load testing failures, cycle testing failures, decompression loads failure, dynamic testing failure (FAR25), and assembly problems in the aircraft or at the integration with other monuments.
