About the role

Key Responsibilities:
The Visual Merchandising Operations Specialist supports the day-to-day operations of The Beacon, Guitar Center’s on-site retail mock store. This role ensures products, materials, and space are organized, received, and prepared for merchandising builds, walkthroughs, and vendor visits. Acting as the operational backbone of The Beacon, the Specialist ensures accuracy, efficiency, and readiness for all activities that happen within the space.

This is a hands-on, on-site position requiring excellent attention to detail, physical organization skills, and collaboration with multiple teams including Merchandising, Visual, Brand, and Supply Chain.

Operations Support

  • Execute daily operational tasks to keep The Beacon organized, functional, and ready for scheduled activities.
  • Coordinate shipments, transfers, and deliveries with Distribution Centers, vendors, and store partners.
  • Maintain accurate records of all gear moving in and out of the space, ensuring compliance with internal procedures.
  • Support visual merchandising builds and floor set changes, ensuring product accuracy and readiness.

Inventory and Receiving

  • Receive, log, and stage inbound product shipments for upcoming walkthroughs and merchandising setups.
  • Track and reconcile product movement (cartons, POs, transfers, and loaned gear).
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and assist in resolving inventory variances in partnership with Finance and Supply Chain.
  • Maintain clear separation between sellable inventory, samples, and vendor-owned gear.

Scheduling and Coordination

  • Maintain and update the Beacon calendar to track walkthroughs, builds, product reviews, and vendor visits.
  • Prepare the space in advance for all scheduled activities, ensuring proper setup and organization.
  • Communicate upcoming events and needs with internal teams to ensure alignment and readiness. 

Organization and Efficiency

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace through consistent labeling, staging, and product organization systems.
  • Support continuous improvement of workflows to streamline receiving, tracking, and reporting processes.
  • Proactively identify issues (e.g., delayed shipments, missing product) and communicate timely resolutions.

Loss Prevention and Compliance

  • Ensure all product movements are properly documented and tracked to minimize shrink or loss.
  • Follow established procedures for secure handling of vendor samples, loaner gear, and high-value items.
Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

  • 3–5 years of experience in retail operations, inventory management, supply chain, or visual merchandising support.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and retail inventory management systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across departments.
  • Ability to lift and move product (up to 40 lbs) and support physical merchandising setups.
