The Horticulture Maintenance Mechanic performs preventative maintenance and repairs on small engine equipment, diesel equipment, pressure washers, sweepers, mowers, etc. for SeaWorld San Antonio under the direction of the Horticulture Manager.

Basic Qualifications:
 

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must possess high school diploma or GED equivalent
• Must have a valid TX Driver’s License required
• At least two years of experience and/or training in the repair and maintenance of small engines, power equipment or machinery
• Prefer at least 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment such as loaders, backhoes, and forklifts
• Have a strong understanding and working knowledge of landscape and light to medium construction and mowing equipment
• Possess technical skills and mechanical aptitude
• Problem solving ability, efficient and accurate diagnosis
• Must have basic math and computer skills
• Able to work in a non-air-conditioned shop, outside in extreme temps, and in all weather conditions
• Able to lift, push and pull a minimum of 75 pounds
• Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time in extreme weather conditions. Ability to bend, stoop, and kneel to perform work
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes weekdays, weekends, evenings and holidays. Standard shifts run between 6:00 am - 1:30 pm at peak season and 7:00 am - 2:30 pm during off-season but are subject to change as needed.
• Must be able to complete tasks independently or with a team without direct supervision.
• Must be able to multitask while maintaining a positive attitude to ensure excellent guest service.
• Must be able to provide approved footwear (e.g. approved non-slip shoes, safety-toed shoes, specified color requirements, etc.) upon first date of employment.
• Consistently practices safe work habits including, but not limited to the use of personal protective equipment, lifting and reporting of unsafe situations
• Must be willing to comply with all SEA grooming guidelines and employment standards.
• Must be able to successfully complete all legal, company and department training requirements to include but not limited to passing required tests and certifications within established timelines

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
 

• Accurate and efficient equipment and vehicle diagnosis and repair
• Use of testing equipment and trouble-shooting guides as well as manufacturer repair guides
• Evaluate and communicate needed services and repair in the department
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work zones and display proper use and maintenance of equipment and tools
• Maintain equipment logs, inventory, etc.
• Mix and distribute fuel to work operations
• Must be able to operate heavy equipment including tractors, loaders, forklifts, man lifts, etc. safely and competently
• Other duties as assigned

Pay Rate: $18.00 Per Hour
