Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience of engineering, manufacturing, and commissioning of Control Systems for Industrial Machinery, Capital Equipment.
- Ability to generate system BOMs for new designs and to evaluate existing designs for improvements, manufacturing simplification, and cost reduction.
- Experience with AutoCAD Electrical to create schematics, panel layouts, cable harnesses, and P&ID drawings.
- Hands-on experience building and troubleshooting electrical panels and electro-mechanical systems.
- Knowledge and deep understanding of Electrical standards: NFPA 79, NEC, UL508a, UL698a, etc.
- Understanding of industrial ethernet networks, including ProfiNET, Powerlink, Ethernet/IP, etc.
- Practical understanding of IEC 61508/61511, IEC 62061 and ISO 13849.
- Experience with FMEA / risk assessment, ISO 12100
- PLC, HMI, SCADA programming experience is a plus.
- Prior experience with high-speed sequenced motion; servo and stepper motor control. Previous experience with B&R is preferred.
- Process integration and electromechanical/mechatronic systems experience.
- Experience leading a team and projects and mentoring junior staff.
- Capable of influencing and driving collaborative consensus.
- Experience leading designs through 3rd party evaluation.
- Self-motivated and capable of working without direction or supervision to achieve team goals.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills; able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detail.
- BS/MS in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
Responsibilities
- Using commercial components, help architect and design the control systems for the world’s fastest Binder Jet 3D Metal Printers
- Transform functional requirements into concepts of operations, architectures, and low-level technical requirements
- Evaluate controllers, networks, and related components to optimize solutions for cost, performance, and reliability requirements
- Work closely with adjacent disciplines of electrical, mechanical, process, and software engineering
- Help define, author, and improve practices to ensure efficiency, quality, reliability, and regulatory compliance
- Write technical design documentation such as functional specifications, design verification plans and reports, presentations, etc.
- Create and update electrical schematics and drawings.
- Identify safety issues, support safety initiatives, and recommend and implement effective solutions.
