Lead Android Framework Engineer
LogitechAbout the role
Logitech is the Sweet Spot for people who want their actions to have a positive global impact while having the flexibility to do it in their own way.
The Team and Role:
You'll be joining our dynamic Video Collaboration (VC) team, a high-energy group at the forefront of designing products that power modern meeting spaces, from huddle rooms to global conference setups. We are the engineers, designers, and innovators making video communication seamless, intuitive, and fun. We move fast, love to tackle complex system-level challenges, and celebrate delivering beautiful, reliable products that keep the world connected. This is where your passion for low-level Android frameworks and system optimization will directly translate into the next generation of Logitech's growth.
This role is for a Lead Android Framework Engineer who will customize and optimize the core Android Open Source Project (AOSP) to build robust, high-performance video collaboration devices. You will be the technical authority for the Android OS layer, ensuring deep system stability and enabling critical device features like camera and display management. You will also be key in integrating strategic requirements from partners like Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Google Meet. You will partner with our hardware, firmware, and QA teams, and report to the Engineering Manager for the Video Collaboration Platform.
Your Contribution:
Be Yourself. Be Open. Stay Hungry and Humble. Collaborate. Challenge. Decide and just Do. Share our passion for Equality and the Environment. These are the behaviors and values you’ll need for success at Logitech. In this role you will:
Architect and customize the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) to create a tailored operating system for our video collaboration devices.
Design, develop, and integrate custom Android framework components, services, and APIs to extend and optimize core device functionality.
Drive development on low-level system components, including the Camera Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL), DisplayManager, and advanced HDMI interfaces (OUT/IN, CEC).
Debug and resolve complex, system-level issues involving Android native code, framework services, and hardware interfaces to ensure product stability.
Collaborate cross-functionally with hardware, firmware, and quality assurance (QA) teams to ensure seamless, end-to-end product integration and performance.
Write and maintain robust Android system services that support and enable core platform features, including configuring SELinux policies for security.
Key Qualifications:
For consideration, you must bring the following minimum skills and experiences to our team:
You have 7+ years of proven, hands-on experience in Android framework development and deep customization within AOSP.
You possess an expert-level proficiency in Kotlin, Java, C, and C++, and can navigate and optimize complex system-level codebases with ease.
You have a profound understanding of Android system architecture, including Hardware Abstraction Layers (HAL) and the inner workings of the Android application lifecycle.
You are comfortable with low-level components, including proven experience with the Camera HAL and Camera2 API, DisplayManager, and HDMI OUT/IN/CEC integration.
Technology fascinates you, and you thrive on using your strong foundation in computer science to perform debugging, root cause analysis, and performance tuning for embedded Android systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
We value continuous learning and exploring new ways to enhance the user experience. Experience with Chromium WebRTC audio/video APIs or customizing the Chromium WebView is a plus, showing us you are eager to push the boundaries of modern video technology.
