A Day in the Life
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Leads a Center of Excellence "flex" team of business development professionals withing the Neuroscience portfolio; coaches, trains, manages and holds team accountable to hit their desired objectives
- Facilitates the operations of the business development team within Neurosciences including (but not limited to) ensuring team members in the operating units, functional partners, and business development are prepared for monthly portfolio BD reviews as well as corporate BD reviews, helps prepare for and lead/co-lead team meetings, ensures the portfolio has updated and accurate 6, 12, 18 month transaction pipelines, serves as a counselor/mentor/coach to OU coverage leaders and/or Flex team talent, and partners with VP Neuroscience BD & Strategy to drive execution against key strategic endeavors for the portfolio
- Routinely counsels senior executive leadership on how complex transaction, problems, issues should be handled and/or resolved; leads teams to address issues that arise with previous or existing transactions
- Helps execute against corporate objectives and long-range plans to achieve growth and financial profitability through acquisitions, disposals, mergers, joint ventures, strategic alliances and licensing agreements.
- Identifies, investigates, and analyzes possible acquisition, merger, and licensing opportunities and strategic partnerships in adjacent/"blue sky" areas as well as leading activity related to channel opportunities.
- Acts as corporate representative and negotiator in initial contact with candidates for merger, acquisition, or licensing.
- Manages on-going licensing agreements, acquisitions, and/or alliances as the business representative for the company to extract the most value from the relationship.
- Maintains an active relationship with Neuroscience operating unit presidents, CFOs, corporate development, OU strategy leaders, and peers to ensure relevant stakeholders are aware/aligned of relevant transaction activity

Required Knowledge and Experience:
Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)( 4)(iii)(A) and minimum of 15 years of business development related experience with 10+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum 13 years of business development related experience and 10+ years of managerial experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the Neuroscience OU
- Ability to communicate with ExCom
