Recursion is seeking a dynamic and strategic Executive Director of Communications to lead our external communications efforts. This pivotal role will be responsible for shaping and driving our narrative, ensuring clear, compelling, and consistent messaging across all external channels. You will be a key advisor to our executive team and a mentor to our communications team. In this role you will: 

• Strategic Messaging & Content Creation: Shape and drive external messaging and content creation to ensure clear, compelling, and consistent communication across social media, press interviews, company announcements, and other external channels.
• Executive Communications Leadership: Provide strategic leadership and content for executive communications initiatives, empowering key executives with best-in-class media interview preparation and thought leadership.
• Team Leadership & Mentorship: Inspire, mentor, and elevate Comms team members to enhance the impact and effectiveness of external messaging and materials, prioritizing ongoing growth, constructive feedback, and a culture of collaboration.
• Process Optimization & Excellence: Continuously refine and optimize team processes to ensure a collaborative and high-performance approach to external communications, where creative ideas are encouraged, accelerated, and executed with excellence.
• Data Readout & Milestone Support: Strengthen and expand messaging and materials to support upcoming data readouts and product milestones.

The Experience You’ll Need: 

• 5-7+ years of external communications experience, preferably in TechBio 
• Proven track record of developing and executing successful external communications strategies in a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex scientific information into clear and compelling narratives.
• Strong leadership and mentorship skills, with a passion for developing and empowering team members.
• Excellent relationship-building and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Deep understanding of media relations, social media, and other external communications channels.
• Experience supporting public companies and experience navigating data readouts and other material events.

Working Location & Compensation:

This is an office-based, hybrid position at our US headquarters located in Salt Lake City, UT. Employees are expected to work in the office at least 50% of the time. 

At Recursion, we believe that every employee should be compensated fairly. Based on the skill and level of experience required for this role, the estimated current annual base range for this role is $221,500 to $271,700 (USD). You will also be eligible for an annual bonus and equity compensation, as well as a comprehensive benefits package.
