The Service Architect is a key member of the technical team supporting a variety of internally or vendor-hosted platforms which provide solutions for the IoT enterprise and connected vehicle space.
Introduction:
The Service Architect provides technical leadership and life-cycle ownership for the evolving architectural capabilities of entire solutions. Defines Technical Solution and ensures alignment across internal work groups while meeting or exceeding customer requirements. Works closely with other Architects and Engineers to ensure that individual program and product strategies align with business and technical objectives, including the evolution and leverage of new technologies to drive the deployment of new capabilities. Facilitates important design decisions for development teams; has local authority for decisions regarding architecture.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Specifies the components and their interactions that comprise the End-to-End Integrated Architecture including: Works with customers, stakeholders, and development teams to define high-level solution; all phases of solution realization from conception to delivery, with particular focus on architectural analysis, solution definition, and testing. Determines the primary components and subsystems and analyze technical trade-offs; Identify interfaces and collaborations between them, define higher-level functional Requirements; Defines a shared technical and architectural vision focused on creating technical alignment for the full Solution rather than concerns for specific components; Work with portfolio stakeholders, customers, Enterprise Architects, System Engineers and development teams to align the architectural direction; Establish incremental implementation strategy and technical foundation for the architectural runway; Abstraction and generalization to preserve architectural flexibility; Ensure that common technology, design practices, and infrastructure are used when applicable; and Facilitate the reuse of code, components, and proven patterns; Influence common modeling, design, and coding practices; Demonstrates excellent communication skills including written documentation of complex solutions using all appropriate tools; Supports meetings with Customer working or executive teams with excellent verbal and inter-personal skills to describe and gain approval of solutions; ensures Compliance with applicable Security policies and approved patterns. Manage and prioritize between multiple concurrent work efforts. Sets an example for teamwork, collaboration across groups, and customer focus to ensure optimal end-to-end solutions; ensures the long-term scalability and supportability for deployed solutions.
Desired Specialties and Skills:
Solutions and systems architecture including public and private cloud technology, cloud-native development practices, understanding of DevOps processes, technology assessment, research and knowledge sharing, ideation, prototyping and demo creation, requirements discovery and engineering, web technologies, APIs and API management, SOA, service composition, telecommunications protocols, problem solving, troubleshooting, product and acceptance testing, cybersecurity.
Educational and Other Requirements of the Role:
As a Member of Technical Staff, the Service Architect works with new and emerging technologies AND has made a significant commitment to their education by earning at least a 4-year degree in related STEM discipline. Applies advanced engineering and scientific knowledge to architecture, design and development work for high-value technology and solutions tied to the strategic direction of the company. Conducts design and development work in the areas of new products/technologies, systems/platform architecture, hardware/software development engineering, technical security and QA Design/Certification. May serve as subject matter expert during the continuous integration/continuous deployment cycle in a production environment focused on complex design, engineering and development. Expert level technical professional. Advisor on technical knowledge and AT&T technologies.
