Marathon Oil is seeking an environmental Intern to join the Team in our Houston, TX office. Environmental interns will contribute to meaningful projects that deliver opportunities and results for both them and the company. The primary work scope will focus on a project or set of projects that will aid in the understanding and support of the area assigned through the application of environmental air, waste, and water knowledge and skills. Near the end of the assignment, the intern will discuss a summary of his or her work with a robust panel of Environmental Leaders and Professionals from across the company. Development and training opportunities will be available, and a mentor will be assigned to provide guidance and support.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Work closely across the Permitting & Compliance, Field Support, Sustainability & Advocacy, and Emissions Accounting Environmental teams to both understand roles and responsibilities as well as find efficiencies in order to optimize workflows.
- Provide environmental support to field-based operations teams and assist in achieving our fundamental and nonnegotiable framework of understanding our operations’ environmental impacts and related risks through our Environmental Critical Expectations.
- Environmental Leadership – Support compliance and environmental stewardship
- Regulatory Compliance – Follow all regulations requirements and company procedures
- Leak-Free Facilities – Design and operate facilities that do not leak under normal operating conditions
- Environmental Impacts – Check and initiate repairs of equipment each time personnel are onsite
- Visit at least one Marathon field location and learn to conduct various regulatory required inspections.
- Complete a minimum of one substantial Environmental related enhancement project throughout the summer.
Qualifications
- Candidate must be a junior or senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree with at least a 3.0 GPA.
- Must be able to work in Marathon Oil’s Houston, TX office and travel to various field locations as well as Houston, Texas.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of staff
- Must be proficient in Microsoft applications
- Must have strong organizational and time management skills
- Have the authorization to work for any employer in the U.S. on a full-time, indefinite basis without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.
