US Heart and Vascular is seeking an experienced Lead Dual Cardiovascular Sonographer to join our team at Cardiology Specialists of Acadiana in Lafayette, LA. This leadership role combines advanced clinical expertise in echocardiography and vascular ultrasound with departmental oversight, mentorship, and quality assurance responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities


Perform a full range of Echocardiography and Vascular ultrasound examinations, including carotid, venous reflux, arterial, and venous studies.
Ensure examination orders are complete and verify appropriate clinical information prior to testing.
Produce high-quality diagnostic images in accordance with physician orders and established protocols.
Accurately document patient records and maintain complete documentation within the PACS system.
Communicate procedures and findings appropriately with patients, physicians, and clinical staff.
Ensure physicians are notified of pertinent test results in a timely manner.
Maintain a safe, professional, and patient-centered clinical environment.
Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to sonography team members.
Assist with staff training, onboarding, and ongoing clinical education.
Monitor compliance with clinical protocols, quality standards, and operational procedures.
Assist with workflow management, scheduling coordination, and departmental operations.
Oversee quality control procedures and ensure ultrasound equipment is maintained for optimal performance.
Maintain clinical supplies and assist with inventory management.
Perform other duties as assigned by physicians or leadership.


Requirements, Skills, and Abilities


Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Cardiovascular Sonography, or Radiologic Technology program.
Minimum 3-5 years of cardiovascular sonography experience required.
Demonstrated experience performing both Echocardiography and Vascular ultrasound studies.
Leadership, charge, preceptor, or supervisory experience preferred.
Current credentials in:

Echocardiography (RDCS or RCS)
Vascular Technology (RVT, RVS, or equivalent)


Current BLS/CPR certification.
Strong knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
Proficiency with ultrasound equipment, PACS, and electronic medical records.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to exercise independent clinical judgment and maintain high-quality patient care standards.
