Job Summary
Supports the day-to-day operations of the accounting area by preparing journal entries, maintaining the accuracy of general ledger accounts, creating accounting reports and supporting management. Aides with the month-end close process and monitors requests sent to the Financial Accounting team.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Reconciles and maintains the general ledger accounts.
- Documents financial transactions by preparing and processing journal entries.
- Compiles reports monthly, quarterly, and annually for BSE management.
- Assists with the accurate and timely completion of the month-end close process.
- Assists branch/regional/department/executive managers with questions regarding financial statements and reporting.
- Answers and assigns requests received by the Financial Accounting team.
- Compiles data for prepaid and accrued expenses, fixed assets, personal property taxes and real estate taxes.
Non-essential Functions
- Assists with financial audits.
- Collaborates with Process Improvement Accountant with identifying and implementing process improvements.
- Assists with special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a four-year accounting, finance or business administration degree.
- A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or similar designation is preferred.
- Ability to read, write and speak in English is required.
- Prefer strong working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint), Internet, Email and SAP software.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, reading, and customer service skills are preferred with the ability to effectively plan and organize.
- Excellent customer service skills include being competent, accurate, responsive and engaged.
