Embedded Software Engineering Intern (Summer/Fall 2024)

We are looking for a Computer Engineering or Software Engineering Intern who desires to make a significant impact developing cutting-edge embedded software. Our team ranges from industry veterans to early career individuals who care greatly about improving patient’s lives, utilizing the latest technology, and promoting a culture of active learning and mentorship. Come join our dynamic, cross-functional team to design, implement, and test our new world-changing medical devices. This internship is full-time, onsite in Waltham, MA from June - December 2024.

Key Activities

• Develop real-time embedded C code
• Participate in architecture design, hardware interface programming, and algorithm design/implementation
• Perform software verification including writing unit test cases, developing automated test harnesses, writing test protocols and reports
• Solve technical hardware and software issues by troubleshooting and determining root cause
• Install, configure, and maintain software tools
• Support general documentation activities such as proofreading, formatting, and revising
• Assists in the preparation and participation of technical reviews

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

• Experience programming embedded systems in C
• Working towards a BS, MS, or advanced degree in computer engineering or computer science
• Familiar with embedded microprocessor toolchains: compilers, debuggers, IDE, and source code control
• Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Understanding of the software development lifecycle
• Be positive, self-motivated and committed to working in a fast-paced environment

Nice to Have

• Completed coursework that includes operating systems (preferable real-time)
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, and understand hardware designs
• Proficiency in at least one common scripting language such as Python
• Familiar with communication protocols such as SPI or i2c
• Capable of hands-on bring up, debug and code optimization
• Previous internship and/or project experience, preferably within the medical device industry
