As an Advanced Manufacturing Lab Technician, you’ll be the go-to person for keeping the lab running smoothly, safely, and efficiently. Your work will ensure that students and faculty have the tools and equipment they need to thrive in a hands-on learning environment. This position is grant funded and is contingent upon yearly funding through August 31, 2029. This position is based at our Pennington Applied Technology campus in Reno, NV and requires in-person presence.
Minimum Qualifications:
4 years of experience with any of the following: advanced manufacturing equipment, mechanics, robotics, lab equipment OR Associate's degree and 2 years of experience.
Ability to work independently and take initiative.
Organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to lift and move equipment as needed (with proper safety practices).
Good communication skills and a team-player attitude.
Comfortable working with technology.
Preferred Skills:
Degree or training in advanced manufacturing or engineering.
Experience with PLCs, Skill Boss trainers, suitcase trainers, or robotics.
Forklift Certified or willing to become forklift certified.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Equipment Organization &; Inventory Management
Keep all tools, machinery, and materials in order across multiple lab spaces. Implement inventory systems to track usage, perform regular audits, and maintain a clean, accessible, and well-labeled workspace.
Repair, Maintenance &; Assembly
Perform light repairs and basic preventative maintenance on advanced manufacturing equipment, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Skill Boss trainers, suitcase trainers, and robotics systems. Troubleshoot technical issues and ensure all
equipment is functioning properly and safely. Assemble tables and chairs as needed.
Lab Setup &; Support
Collaborate with instructors to move, arrange, and prepare equipment for daily lab activities and class sessions. Provide setup and breakdown support for instructional demonstrations and student projects.
Ordering &; Stocking Replacement Parts
Monitor supplies and parts inventory, and coordinate with vendors to ensure timely ordering and restocking of critical components and consumables. Keep track of replacement cycles to minimize downtime.
