POSITION SUMMARY

As a Senior Buyer, you will play a vital role in the procurement process by sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing goods and services for our organization. You will be responsible for ensuring that the procurement activities align with the company's goals and objectives, while also maintaining efficient and cost-effective purchasing procedures. The Senior Buyer will collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as the supply chain team, finance department, and production teams, to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods and services. This role requires strong analytical skills, negotiation abilities, and market knowledge to achieve optimal results.

RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Independently and accurately procure parts for all of Manufacturing per the Production Forecasts and Material Requirements Plan
  • Identify preferred suppliers for each part and negotiate favorable terms
  • Monitor supplier performance and take proactive steps to ensure highest levels of performance from all suppliers
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels to satisfy demand plan
  • Expedite and de-expedite Purchase Orders as required
  • Expedite parts through Receiving and Incoming Inspection
  • Place purchase orders per approved requisitions for inventory and non-inventory purchases supporting all functional areas of the organization
  • Ensure suppliers build and deliver to the latest specifications
  • Maintain item master data in ERP system, including item revision, supplier info, lead times and cost data
  • Ensure material is procured from suppliers on the Approved Supplier List (ASL) for inventory purchases
  • Lead efforts to assess component and material obsolescence and supply chain disruptions for all inventory items; communicate and escalate issues as needed
  • Participate in Supplier Audits as needed
  • Participate in Material Review Board meetings and coordinate inventory dispositions for Non-Conforming Material
  • Work with Finance to rectify P/O problems affecting the vouchering process
  • Follow-up with suppliers to address incoming quality, track supplier on time delivery and other quality issues as required
  • Optimizing inventory strategies to satisfy demand plan
  • Prioritize and coordinate expedited order strategies with suppliers
  • Oversee and audit ERP master data… including item revision, supplier info, lead times and cost data
  • Builds constructive stakeholder relationships which involve direct interaction and influence with TransMedics business functions and suppliers. 
    • Acts as the primary interface in the management of the supplier relationships.
  • Influences product selection with stakeholders based on continuity of supply, cost, and technology. 
  • Work closely with our New Product Development Programs (NPI) to source and procure new products and optimize lead times to ensure we are meeting target schedule dates.
  • Identify supply risks and mitigation strategies.  Drive actions to close same.
  • Perform other TransMedics tasks and duties as assigned/required.         

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

This position manages the following positions on a daily basis.

  • This position will not have management responsibilities.

PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES

  • General Office environment
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Up to 10% travel to customer/vendor sites                                                                         

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS                                                         

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience performing purchasing functions ideally with at least 3 years in a Medical Device company

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • APICS Certified Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) and/ or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of purchase order generation, Material Requirements Planning and supplier management
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with ERP/MRP systems, Microsoft Office, and Excel spreadsheets
  • Must be highly organized and detail oriented
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be results-driven and exhibit a sense of urgency
  • Clear and concise in verbal and written communication, able to foster smooth flow of timely and releva
