The prospective Software Developer is a crucial part of the team at Sleep and Circadian Analysis (SCAN) Group, participating in the full life cycle of application development and automating sleep and circadian analysis infrastructure. This role involves supporting software development and orchestrating data workflows, including data ingestion, processing, and pipeline development. A successful candidate will provide technical expertise and build solutions that enhance research sleep study processes.
- Lead Development: Take ownership as the lead developer of various tools for use in research studies, including dashboards and other tools for internal use. This role also involves leading and assisting with the design, implementation, and maintenance of data engineering solutions.
- Technical Contribution: Play a key role in the technical aspects of research studies, including data delivery and reporting and the build out of various internal tools. This role also involves leveraging cloud infrastructure, to build and automate data handling and processing, particularly of time series data.
- GPU Programming: Candidate must be familiar with programming in relevant programming languages for GPU processing.
- Culture and Mentorship: Contribute to a professional software engineering culture by participating in code reviews, mentoring junior developers, and engaging in activities that enhance the Institute's overall software engineering capabilities.
- Adaptability: Performs other related duties as required, demonstrating flexibility to adapt to changing project needs and priorities.
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Informatics, or a related field.
- 1-2+ years of industry experience, preferably working with biomedical, health, or sensitive data.
- Strong foundation in software development, with experience in Python, SQL, C++, MATLAB.
- Demonstrated experience with cloud/high performance clusters services and an understanding of cloud infrastructure principles. Familiarity with other cloud platforms is also beneficial.
- Ability to work across cross-functional teams to understand needs and develop effective software solutions.
Preferred:
- Prior experience in a biomedical or healthcare setting, with an understanding of clinical data and PHI.
- Experience working with EPIC Clarity, Caboodle, REDCap, etc.
