The Industrial Controls Engineer will join a growing team of Engineering and Health & Safety professionals helping our customers reduce their work-related risk to quality, productivity and employee health.

The Industrial Controls Engineer will be working with one of Sandalwood's global automotive OEM clients to help with controls development and commissioning for new battery cell manufacturing processes. This will be an onsite position based at an automotive manufacturing facility in Romulus, MI.


Responsibilities will Include

  • Engage with a cross-functional team of manufacturing and product design engineers to ensure proper integration of industrial controls and IT solutions.
  • Assist in the setup and operation of laboratory and pilot processing equipment in the execution of technology development projects.
  • Creation and deployment of Manufacturing 4.0 strategies and specifications in cell manufacturing.
  • Help to create and develop standard software and IT interface strategies for cell manufacturing.
  • Issue resolution during machine commissioning and project work.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machine downtime (i.e. PLC programs, HMI Screens, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot network issues at CPN level.
  • Properly manage PLC / software changes.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in industrial controls
  • 2 or 4 year degree in engineering and/or technology with emphasis in electrical, industrial controls
  • Siemens TIA Portal Ladder and SCL programming
  • Experience with Siemens along with other PLC manufacturers (programmable safety as well)
  • Experience with Manufacturing IT suite of standard applications (i.e. FIS, QLS-CM, etc.) or equivalent
  • Experience in handling multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Strong analytical thinking, as well as problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Battery Cell Manufacturing and/or Cell Test experience preferred
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Ability to be present on-site to complete daily tasks (Not a remote role)
