Purpose

Under limited supervision, The Senior IT Project Manager leads and manages multiple, complex information technology projects utilizing accepted project management methodologies. Functional areas include, but are not limited to, Technology Support, Applications, Systems and/or any combination of the three.

Responsibilities

- Project Leadership & Management

  • Oversee and manage multiple complex IT projects from initiation to completion.

  • Ensure alignment with business goals, scope, budget, timeline, and quality standards.

  • Lead stakeholder engagement, governance approvals, and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Monitor and report project progress, risks, and dependencies.

- Project Planning & Execution

  • Develop detailed project documentation, including charters, requirements, scope, work breakdown structures, and schedules.

  • Track project milestones, deliverables, and key performance metrics.

  • Manage procurement, compliance reviews, testing, and implementation processes.

  • Coordinate with IT teams, vendors, and business units to ensure smooth execution.

- Stakeholder & Team Coordination

  • Act as the liaison between IT, business units, and executive stakeholders.

  • Facilitate clear communication and collaboration between technical and non-technical teams.

  • Oversee resource allocation, work prioritization, and team alignment across projects.

  • Drive change management and ensure IT solutions align with business needs.

- Supervise and support several CNS IT staff.  Ensure compliance with university policies, industry regulations, and IT best practices.

- Participate in strategic planning, process improvements, and post-project evaluations.

- Provide support on additional initiatives as needed by IT leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Established project management experience in IT, software, and/or application development.

  • Proven ability to develop a detailed project plan.

  • Demonstrated ability to estimate, track, and deliver established project milestones.

  • Proven ability to meet deadlines consistently across multiple tasks and projects.

  • Demonstrated strong customer communication and listening skills.

  • Experience handling multiple, concurrent assignments and ability to adapt to changing priorities.

  • Demonstrated creative problem-solving skills and excellent organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to recognize and clarify ambiguous assignments.

  • Demonstrated ability to cope with and address challenges to project success.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
