Job Title: Part-Time Occupational Therapist – Adjoint Instructor

Job Summary:

The Stress, Trauma, Adversity, Research, and Treatment (START) Department of Psychiatry has an opening for a part-time .2 FTE Occupational Therapist. The START Center at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, including psychiatrists, psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, nurse practitioners, and licensed professional counselors who offer psychotherapy and medication management for people who have experienced or may currently experience psychological trauma. 

Key Responsibilities:

• The primary responsibility of the occupational therapist is to provide services for individuals across the age range including 2 years to 65 years old.

• The occupational therapist would be responsible for providing direct treatment, caregiver training, and would collaborate on research studies focused on occupational therapy’s role on working with kids who have experienced trauma. 

• Meets the patient’s goals and needs and provides quality care by assessing patients with trauma and culturally informed evaluations and determining occupational therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription.

• Assesses for potential developmental delays and helps patient develop skills to adjust to any potential developmental delays. Develop assessment reports that consider and incorporate the impacts of chronic early life stress and are culturally relevant

• Implements programs involving manual arts and crafts, practice in functional, and homemaking skills and fosters activities of daily living as is appropriate developmentally and culturally. Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.

• Promotes maximum independence by selecting and constructing therapies according to individual’s physical capacity, intelligence level, and interest. Evaluates results of occupational therapy by observing, noting, and evaluating patient’s progress and recommending and implementing adjustments and modifications.

• Work with an interdisciplinary team to deliver report results and treatment recommendations and work across systems of care to promote comprehensive treatment of children, including collaboration with medical, educational, and child welfare professionals.

Work Location: Hybrid – this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 1 day per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.
