Job Description Qualifications:

The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking a Senior Space Launch Systems (SLS) Equipment & Tool Production Engineering Manager located in New Orleans, LA.  The selected candidate will be responsible for leading the Tool & Specialty Engineering team for the CS & EUS portions of the Space Launch System (SLS) at the Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF).

This leader's responsibility is leading the Tool & Specialty team for the Core Stage (CS), and the Exploration Upper Stage (EUS) on the Space Launch System (SLS) at the Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF). Responsibilities include weld engineering oversight, NC (numerical control) programming, CAMS (Computer Aided Metrology Systems), unique and shared tooling, including procurements, modifications, cost, schedule, and technical performance to plan.  This leader's primary responsibility will be to lead the Specialty Engineering organization as it relates to CS & EUS build and production readiness.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages employees and first-level managers performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Production Engineering.
  • Develops and executes integrated departmental plans, policies and procedures and provides input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals, objectives.
  • Acquires resources for department activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes.
  • Manages, develops and motivates employees and first-level managers.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

Work Authorization:

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required.  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor degree or higher in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 5+ years management experience leading a Production Engineering team

           

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in program or project management
  • Experience in Production Engineering processes and tools
