We are looking for a Sr. Manager, Failure Analysis to join our team in one of today’s most exciting technologies. This role will report to the Head of Quality & Reliability.
Location: San Jose, CA. This is a fully on-site, in office role.
Role and Responsibilities
- Define and build the infrastructure for the failure analysis of the BOP and components in the hot box, and the supporting parts in the server or site installation.
- Set up fast track failure analysis for critical parts; return method, analysis tools, failure analysis technicians, and report out method, and actions to address
- Provide tracking of return parts and LT for root cause of critical items
- Set up 3rd party test labs, inhouse tools and equipment, and procedures for FA
- Define the optimal flow for the return of each type of part based on the complexity, tools, size, 1st level location, 2nd level location etc that provides the quickest information cost effectively
- Work cross functionally with Service, Install Quality, Reliability, SQE, and Logistics to address failures expeditiously
- Set up return logistics flow for failed parts for US sites, and Korea, or international sites
- Set up roles and responsibilities of all related parties
- Work cross functionally with Factory, Design, Install Quality, SQE to mitigate and prevent failures
- Build lessons learned into the next generation products
- Create metrics to measure failed parts, and turn around times for FA.
- Determine the sampling plan for failed parts when repetitive symptoms are indicating a known problem.
- Work with Engineering to “turn on” and “turn off” the failure modes in testing.
- Work with controls team and the data analytics team to add detection of early symptoms of field issues that are happening after some time in the field.
- Work with Engineering to improve self diagnostics of products to “annunciate” their potential failures based on changes in self monitored values
- Work with Fleet Analytics leader to inform of potential failure modes, and symptoms that may be indicative, so proactive sweeps can be done.
Technical Responsibilities
- Provides direction on method of FA- 1st and 2nd level
- Evaluates parts to their technical specifications, and use cases vs the actual condition
- Conducts RCCAs, prescribes CA and PA as necessary to prevent recurrence and verifies/validates effectiveness
- Assists in the Administration of the FRACAS (Failure Reporting and Corrective Action System) Process
- Work with SQE to document RMA return on supplier failing parts in field
- Work with Quality to contain “suspect range” of product and proactive repair, checking, or return from field of affected population.
- Develops and systematically analyzes statistical data to determine standards and to ensure product quality and reliability expectations
- Assists reliability group in predicting, or analyzing AFRs of parts based on failure modes.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Perform and oversee failure analysis of BOP and Hot Box parts, or Server parts
- Collaborate with FS on best method to perform FA to get efficient and fast results.
Skills and Experience:
- BS, MS in one of the following: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science or Physics
- Must be able to establish technical credibility with the Engineering Staff.
- Minimum 8 years of technical work experience. <
