Nalco Water an Ecolab Company is hiring for a Health, Safety and Environmental (HS&E) Manager to join our team at our North American flagship facility in Clearing, IL. As our HS&E Manager, you will lead a team of HS&E Specialists and Process Safety Engineer(s) in safety and environmental initiatives within our multi-divisional facility.
The individual selected for this role will take safety programs from the implementation stage to integration, providing superior training and partnering with the leadership team and front-line associates to influence change while achieving a commitment to a culture of safety among employees. In addition, you will work closely with plant leadership to drive sustainability and industrial process safety initiatives. You will also serve as a key site contact for internal and external audits.

What You Will Do:
Lead the Safety team members developing their competencies and career management.
Provide guidance & technical expertise to ensure compliance with SH&E regulations including governmental, state, industry, and Ecolab.
Develop & implement systems & processes for SH&E system to ensure training is timely & effective, incident investigations are timely & complete, audits are regularly scheduled & observations resolved.
Partners with the team to create a culture of trust, engagement, transparency, risk awareness and avoidance, and rigorous application of our SMS.
Develop SOPs for facility compliance with the major regulatory programs & safety contingency plans including MPRI, RCRA, EPA, SWPPP, Clean Water Act, OSHA & safety contingency plans.
Develop & implement systems & processes to reduce hazardous waste generation, increase recycling & conservation practices to meet our sustainability goals of water reduction and zero landfill.
Leads plant emergency response team, serves as a member of the Central Safety Committee & other multi-division SH&E efforts.
Liaise with the local government entities including DHS, TCEQ, City of Clearing, Fire Department, Health department, Fish & Wildlife, Hazmat and Police Department.
Interface with the Engineering team to drive Process Safety incidences to zero and over time, engineer out the risks or implement engineering controls so as to not rely on admin or PPE.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in safety, engineering, environmental or related discipline
8 years related experience
Proven experience as a HS&E leader, supporting a team of minimum 3 direct reports

Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree in a safety, environmental or engineering discipline.
2 years in a EH&S role in a chemical manufacturing environment
Experience managing internal/external audits and good working knowledge of EPA, PSM/RMP, MOC, OSHA, NFPA, and/or related regulations
Chemical, oil & gas, etc. experience highly favored.
Experience developing & delivering training programs.
Waste management experience.
TPM or SHE Pillar experience.
Project management experience, and experience with competitive bidding and contractor supervision.
Knowledge of building design, ADA requirements, fire, life safety and all relevant codes.
Excellent verbal & written communication, leadership & training skills.
Green or Black Belt certification and Certified Safety Professional and / or Certified Industrial Hygienist.
