The Airport Design & Construction department is seeking a talented team player to join the Technical Services group as a Senior Engineering Technician. In this capacity, the selected individual will perform geospatial data processing tasks that support the overall efforts of the enterprise GIS database and CAD drawings of the Airport Authority. This role is responsible for the creation, modification, and quality control of essential geospatial infrastructure data for Airport-wide use in a variety of critical applications, including the analysis and assembly of GIS and CAD data utilized to support engineering designs, real estate plats, planning exhibits, and capital improvement projects. Enjoy the flexibility of a telecommuting schedule (3 days remote and sixteen working hours on-site) and;

1.      Participates in engineering planning for large capital improvement and major maintenance programs; conducts research for infrastructure and facilities requirements; checks historical airport facility records and design data; coordinates surveying and drafting efforts to develop contract documents; prepares and/or leads the preparation of complex engineering plans and drawings; analyzes and performs routine engineering calculations; prepares diagrams; computes lines and grades.

2.      Assists with engineering project management on maintenance and construction projects; investigates and researches documents for projects as required; prepares contract drawing documents for bidding; prepares property maps; cross sections, profiles, direction maps and charts; plans, rights-of-way, flight path obstruction and final zoning maps; combines maps onto one scale; prepares estimates and computes quantities; investigates tenant and property requests; prepares exhibits reflecting changes in leaseholds, rental agreements and permits of tenants.

3.      Coordinates and maintains AutoCAD data processes and libraries; prepares advanced AutoCAD standards; develops and implements AutoCAD tools; maintains title block libraries; implements drawing change control process and preparation of record drawings; maintains record drawings by logging, organizing and storing electronic and physical versions of drawings; prepares project data and information.

4.      Monitors the work performed by consultants for quality and compliance to standards; conducts field inspections of construction and maintenance projects and facilities; reviews consultant plans to ensure conformance with Authority plans and objectives; leads and evaluates technical staff or consultants preparing plans, details and CAD work; assigns routine research, design and drafting tasks to technical staff; reviews completed work; assists in developing solution to technical problems.

5.      Reviews and analyzes construction projects planned by other agencies for potential impact on Authority operations; prepares engineering correspondence, records, files and reports; performs other duties as assigned.

Competencies

1.      Engineering Principles and Construction Knowledge: General understanding of architectural and civil engineering design and construction principles and practices. Ability to comprehend and apply engineering concepts in project planning and execution.

2.      Leveraging Technology: Expertise in preferred technologies utilized for drafting, designing, spatial data analysis, visualization, and management. Proficient in Geodatabase editing, management, and spatial data manipulation.

3.      Problem-Solving: Capable of conducting technical research and analyzing complex engineering issues to develop effective solutions. Innovative and analytical approach to solving technical problems.

4.      Communication: Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing, for clear and effective information exchange.

5.      Quality Control: Knowledgeable in quality control processes, ensuring work by colleagues and contractors meets standards and compliance requirements.

Requirements

Required Education, Training and Experience:

  • Six years of paraprofessional engineering experience work using CAD and manual drafting tools applied in complex facility construction and/or major maintenance projects;
