Description
IPG is focused on developing next-generation products & processes based on IPG's state-of-the- art lasers. The Applications Lab Intern is responsible for working as a team member to support the development of laser welding and/or Laser cleaning processes. The successful candidate must have the ability to learn new skills quickly and follow established company practices.
Duties:
- Support applications team in Marlborough, MA with development of new laser welding and Laser cleaning Manufacturing processes for customers.
- Operate robotic & CNC machines; execute test plans and or DOE’s
- Cut, polish, and analyze Weld cross sections and analyze test results.
- Complete summer internship project on topic of interest to IPG.
- Prepare reports and presentations summarizing work.
Experience Desired:
- Enrolled in an engineering degree or a technical school program; Mechanical Engineering, Weld Engineering Technology preferred
- Familiarity with metallographic equipment for cutting, polishing and measuring of weld specimens
- Knowledge of basic welding principles and practices
- Experience with MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22C.F.R. §120.15 are required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee. License exception Technology and software under restriction (TSR) defined in 15 CFR 740.6 may permit person from Country Group B.
