What you’ll do:

  • Assess and mitigate risks for new technology introductions; develop, test, and hand off methods and procedures to partner organizations, including GMOP certification, risk assessment, and support for IMS network elements.
  • Leverage CI/CD pipelines and automation to accelerate feature deployment.
  • Develop custom network tools and playbooks to address operational gaps.
  • Create troubleshooting guides and deliver training on new technologies and designs.
  • Analyze network field data to validate improvements and features.
  • Troubleshoot IMS call flows and protocols (TCP/IP, SIP, SDP, Diameter, DNS, RTP) using tools like Wireshark, IRIS, and Radcom to document root causes.
  • Resolve critical outages, evaluate failure modes, and lead root cause analysis.
  • Monitor network health through performance metrics, analytics, and resolution of chronic issues.
  • Provide 24x7 on-call support for escalations.
  • Lead technical recovery efforts for complex VoIP issues, coordinating Tier 2, Operations, and vendors.
  • Drive cross-organizational problem management and root cause initiatives, including fix identification and certification.
  • Manage vendor relationships for production equipment/software and provide performance feedback.
  • Lead cross-functional teams and serve as SME for technology insertion and special projects.

What you’ll need:

As a Lead Member of Technical Staff, you will be responsible for AT&T’s Domain 1.0 (D1) physical and 2.0 (D2) virtual VoIP/IMS/vUSP, Mobility Voicemail (MVM) and ESINet platforms, providing operational requirements, review, signoff, support and insertion of new IP Multimedia Systems (IMS) IMS and Cloud technologies, feature deployments, and changes to the network. Design equipment and software certification testing.

What you’ll bring:

  • Required Experience:
    • 5+ years of VoIP/IMS network engineering experience.
    • 5+ years working with various cloud platforms, including Azure, AWS, Red Hat OpenShift, and OpenStack.
    • Skilled in automating CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Azure Pipelines, GitHub Actions, and Terraform.
    • Expert in configuration management (Ansible) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, OpenShift).
    • Demonstrated experience with infrastructure such as code, source control systems, and templating languages such as Jinja2.
    • Technical expertise in 911 CPE and networking, covering both legacy and emerging technologies.
    • Strong foundational knowledge of IP routing, switching protocols, and authentication.
    • 5+ years troubleshooting with Wireshark and other packet capture/analysis tools.
    • 5+ years scripting with UNIX/Linux Shell, Perl, Expect, and Python.

  • Required Education:
    • PhD in an approved field from an approved university with no minimum years of relevant experience or Masters in an approved field from an approved university with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or a Bachelors in an approved field from an approved university with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience

  • Knowledgeable in OpenStack, Azure, AWS, Red Hat OpenShift, and other cloud platforms.
  • Support technical issues assessment during FFA certification and contribute to feasibility, planning, and design phases.
