GREENMARKET ASSISTANT REGIONAL MANAGER (Full-time)
Position Summary
The Greenmarket Assistant Regional Manager works to assist the Greenmarket Operations Manager and the Greenmarket Regional Managers in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our more than 48 weekly Greenmarket locations, through a combination of regular weekly tasks, seasonal projects, on-demand logistical support, and regular work in the field.
This position's primary focus will be overseeing, tracking, and implementing training for our Seasonal Site Lead staff members. The ideal candidate possesses flexibility, initiative, responsiveness, organization, and excellent communication skills.
Requirements
Greenmarket Assistant Regional Manager Responsibilities (Include but are not limited to):Site Lead Training and Supervision Support
- Support the Staffing team by participating in the interviewing and hiring process for Seasonal Site Leads.
- Host in-person office visits for staff during their onboarding process.
- Lead, plan, and run seasonal cohort training sessions for Seasonal Site Leads in the spring.
- Manage all group and individual in-person training for Seasonal Site Leads at markets across NYC.
- Track and follow up on all Greenmarket required training (virtual and in-person) for new Seasonal Site Leads throughout the year.
- Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and have performance-related conversations with Seasonal Site Leads.
- Visit Greenmarket sites regularly to review operations, address issues if they arise, and assess staff performance.
- Provide support and supervision for 7-13 Site Leads when a Regional Manager is on Paid Time Off (PTO).
Supply Purchasing and Inventory
- Help coordinate and deliver supplies and equipment to the GrowNYC office, Greenmarket sites, or other locations as needed.
- With support from the Greenmarket Operations Manager, manage an internal system of ordering, tracking, distributing, and accounting for all market supplies by developing and implementing an inventory system.
Market Operations and Administration
- Help coordinate and maintain market equipment, signage, and promotional/informational materials.
- Help oversee the schedule, operation, and maintenance of Greenmarket vehicles.
- Participate in weekly Operations and Hiring/Staffing meetings.
Qualifications
- One (1) to two (2) years of work experience in operations and/or program management, preferably in a public-facing setting, e.g., retail, agricultural, restaurant, or culinary.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a high level of emotional intelligence.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a desire and proven ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds and knowledge levels.
- Highly organized, with exceptional time management skills and a proactive, results-driven orientation.
- Creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and use good judgment to make on-the-spot decisions.
- Strong dispute mediation, conflict management, and de-escalation skills, with a willingness to compassionately and firmly manage the complex dynamics of operating an outdoor public space in New York City.
- Strong commitment to a racially and socially just food system.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Documents.
- A valid New York State driver's license for at least one year and a willingness to operate a cargo van.
Ideal Qualifications
- Minimum of one year of experience managing staff (preferably supervisory experience similar in scope to current Greenmarket field-based staffing) with a people-centered and inclusive leadership style.
