The Team
The Analytics team plays the critical role of providing analytical capability across Upstart's organization to enable data-driven decision making. We leverage our analytical and technical skills to support our partners with a multitude of services, some of which include understanding our underwriting models and presenting on trends in our loan performance, analyzing market size opportunities, creating financial models, developing our business intelligence pipeline to enable self-service reporting, and architecting/automating of work processes.
As the Staff Analyst on the Home Analytics team, you will contribute to understanding and driving best practices in onboarding, servicing and collections, presenting on trends in our loan portfolio performance, operations efficiency and customer experience, leading experiment set up and analysis for product improvements, and developing our business intelligence pipeline to enable better decision making. You’ll be responsible for driving understanding, insights and decision making with our Product, Growth, Machine Learning, and Engineering teams.
You are an analytically minded individual with keen product intuitions to guide and answer high-impact product and business questions through intelligent use of data. The product analyst will work closely with the Product Managers and Data Scientists to improve end-to-end user engagement, from application flow, to underwriting and reporting. The ideal candidate will be naturally curious and motivated to discover hidden truths to improve user experience
Position location This role is available in the following locations: Remote
Time zone requirements The team operates on the East/West coast time zones.
Travel requirements As a digital first company, the majority of your work can be accomplished remotely. The majority of our employees can live and work anywhere in the U.S but are encouraged to to still spend high quality time in-person collaborating via regular onsites. The in-person sessions’ cadence varies depending on the team and role; most teams meet once or twice per quarter for 2-4 consecutive days at a time.
How you’ll make an impact:
- Conduct quantitative analysis to test hypotheses about our users and the way they interact with our product
- Administer AB tests, monitor results and generate product and business recommendations
- Build data and analytical foundation for product analytics, including data pipelines and automated reporting
- Partner with Product and Engineering teams to test and implement product changes
- Mentor junior team members on best practices and foster a center of excellence on data, analytics,and experimentation
What we’re looking for:
- Minimum qualifications:
- 5+ years work experience in increasingly senior analytical roles in technology and finance industry
- Experience in product or growth analytics, proficient in with Python / R, GSheet / Excel, SQL
- Experience working with large datasets, data modeling, and data pipelines using tools like Databricks, DBT, Looker, Snowflake, Redshift, Tableau, Mode
- Experience deriving actionable insights from analysis and analytical storytelling
- Degree in Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Data Science or other quantitative fields
- Preferred qualifications:
- 3+ years experience developing, conducting, and evaluating A/B tests
- Experience in coaching and mentoring junior team members on technical subjects
- Demonstrated ability to craft executive-ready narratives around complex business or performance topics to successfully influence VP+ decision making
