We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Cloud Engineer to join our AI Hub team at CVS Health. This role will be pivotal in designing, implementing, and maintaining the cloud infrastructure that supports our foundational services and evaluation framework for generative AI models. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud engineering, containerized microservices, and a passion for innovation and excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cloud Infrastructure Design and Implementation:

    • Design and implement scalable, secure, and reliable cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to support AI Hub services.
    • Develop and maintain containerized microservices using Docker, ensuring they are production-ready and can be easily deployed and managed.
    • Implement and manage data storage solutions using MongoDB (document storage) and VectorDB (Milvus, MongoDB).
  • Service Management:

    • Oversee the deployment and management of foundational services, including load balancers, caching mechanisms (likely Redis), and messaging systems (Kafka).
    • Ensure the cloud infrastructure supports the creation of custom pipelines to deliver specific functionality for generative AI models.
  • Performance and Optimization:

    • Monitor and optimize the performance of cloud infrastructure and services, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
    • Implement best practices for cost management and optimization in the cloud environment.
  • Security and Compliance:

    • Ensure the cloud infrastructure adheres to security best practices and compliance requirements.
    • Implement security measures such as encryption, access controls, and monitoring to protect sensitive data and services.
  • Collaboration and Leadership:

    • Work closely with software engineers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure the delivery of high-quality cloud solutions.
    • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior cloud engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Continuous Improvement:

    • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in cloud engineering and AI technologies, incorporating best practices into the AI Hub’s cloud infrastructure.
    • Drive continuous improvement of the AI Hub’s cloud capabilities, ensuring it remains at the forefront of AI innovation.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in cloud engineering, with a focus on designing and implementing scalable and secure cloud infrastructure.
  • 4-6 years of experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Kubernetes, and containerization technologies such as Docker.
  • 4-6 years of experience with data storage solutions, including MongoDB and VectorDB (Milvus, MongoDB).
  • 4-6 years of experience with messaging systems like Kafka and caching mechanisms such as Redis.
  • Strong Python experience

Preferred:

  • Gen AI experience is highly preferred
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$144,200.00 - $288,400.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  T
