Description

SUMMARY

The CUSR Bus Driver is responsible for transporting CUSR participants to locations throughout the community.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Possess the ability to maintain participant discipline and ensure that participant behavior is not a distraction to safe driving
  • Ability to work independently and maintain a tight schedule.
  • Follow the daily schedule in a timely manner
  • Possess a valid Illinois drivers license
  • Complete and pass a Park District driving test
  • POSITIVE CAN DO TEAM ATTITUDE

Supervision

The CUSR Bus Driver is responsible to the CUSR Manager

Classification

  • Non-Exempt, hourly
  • Seasonal (not to exceed 6 months)

TRAINING CAN BE OBTAINED THROUGH CHAMPAIGN PARK DISTRICT

  • Bloodborne pathogen training
  • Mandated Reporter training
  • CPR, First Aide, and AED training from American Heart Association or accredited agency
  • Harassment Prevention Training

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Follow all Park District safety policies and perform all work in a manner that ensures the safety of the public, fellow employees, and themselves
  • Provide safe and dependable transportation for all program participants and staff
  • Communicate to your supervisor any conflict or issues that arise
  • Represent the district in a positive manner when communicating with public
  • Follow all rules of the road set by the Illinois Department of Transportation
  • Ensure that the bus can be operated safely before driving and conduct pre-trip safety inspection
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of participants being transported to and from the different locations

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist program staff with participants as needed.
  • Communicate information to the police department as needed.

PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS

  • May have to drive under loud conditions created by groups of children.
  • Follow a schedule in a timely manner.

PHYSIOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS

  • Prolonged hours of sitting.
  • Non-air-conditioned bus.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS

  • May be exposed to summer weather conditions including rain, heat and humidity.

COGNITIVE CONSIDERATIONS

  • Should be safety conscious at all times.
  • Must be able to work well with people, and resolve problems fairly and with judgment in keeping with the mission of the district.
  • Must be able to respond quickly and accurately in emergency situations.
