About the role

We are looking to expand our passionate and outstanding team with a motivated, impressive engineer to help deliver exciting new products and features for our Industrial Controls Software Platform. Our software serves as the user interface to Emerson’s line of PLC products, and you will be developing solutions that will impact customers in infrastructure, power, manufacturing, and transportation industries. As a Software Engineer, you will design and develop new software and features to existing software. Many of our products use InstallShield, we will consider experience with this product positive. You will use the standard methodologies and processes to continually improve the team’s execution. You will receive guidance from key collaborators to deliver significant value to our team, customers, and business. 

IN THIS ROLE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL: 

  • Use programming languages such as C#, C++, and/or Java/JavaScript using Visual Studio
  • Use strong knowledge of object-oriented programming and design patterns to design software that promotes efficiency, testability, and maintainability.
  • Work within an agile process to build software that meets the gathered requirements. 
  • Author user stories and tasks from supplied requirements, and effectively communicate with the scrum team. 
  • Apply continuous integration to automate builds, testing, and revision control. 
  • Participate in continuous improvements to the development process to aid productivity and increase quality

FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering
  • Ability to program using C++, C#
  • Excellent debugging and refactoring skills
  • Experience with Unit Testing Tools – NUnit, etc
  • Must be able to work in the United States without need for sponsorship now or in the future

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS THAT SET YOU APART: 

  • Master's Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering from an accredited university or college AND 1+ years of related work experience)
  • Experience with InstallShield
  • Experience in medium to large code bases
  • Experience with .NET and WPF
  • Ability to create UI Designs that create an awesome user experience 
  • Ability to create API Design Specifications 
  • Domain Driven Design Knowledge of software architectural principles 
  • Database development experience 
  • Knowledge of at least one Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery Software (Jenkins, Bamboo, Cruise Control, Electric Commander, etc.) 
  • Test Driven Development experience
  • Experience with defect tracking tools like Rally or JIRA
  • Experience or Knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture 
  • Knowledge of Industrial network and serial communication protocols (OPC UA, Modbus, etc.) 
  • Knowledge of Industrial Controls, particularly PLCs 
  • Experience working in Agile development environments
  • Experience with Ethernet networking protocols and networking infrastructure
