Job Description

The Conference Lead, Planner, Content and Programming provides project and team support in the design, development, production, delivery, and maintenance of HIMSS Global Conference & Exhibition educational program offerings for both clinical- and non-clinical CE eligible content.  To be successful in the role, the ideal candidate will need a high level of agility, organization skills, communication skills, financial acumen and possess the ability to work and interact with colleagues at all levels of seniority.  Knowledge of healthcare concepts and terminology is a bonus.

To be successful in this role, the Lead Conference Planner will serve as a key team member of the Informa Content and Programming Team by working to ensure that the educational programming delivered is highly relevant, impactful, and immersive across target audiences, including but not limited to, HIMSS Global Conference & Exhibition attendees, stakeholders, and others across the digital health ecosystem.  The Lead Conference Planner will participate in helping to realizing that the Informa Content and Programming Team’s goals and objectives are met in delivering the most effective and efficient level of educational programming possible.

  • Working with the Director, Content and Programming the Conference Lead, Planner assists and collaborates with other team members on the design, development, production, delivery, and maintenance of key content, e.g., clinical- and non-clinical CE eligible content from the HIMSS Call for Proposal, Keynotes, and other programs as needed.
  • Engages directly with internal and external content and HIMSS Points of Contact, HIMSS member and non-member subject matter experts (SMEs), and others as identified to develop relevant and quality executive level resources and programs.
  • Assists in the facilitation of the application and selection process for volunteer groups assisting with the design of educational programming.
  • Interacts with speakers at all levels of educational programming to ensure that programs are created with the attendee at the center of design based on the principles of adult education and how adults learn; that content is synergistic between overall program objectives and individual sessions that align to those objectives; and that programs are immersive to ensure program objectives are achieved.
  • Participates in the design of topic research and market analysis to identify new audiences and topics for consideration in future HIMSS Global Conference & Exhibition events.
  • Contributes to the strategic planning activities of the HIMSS Informa Content and Programming Department as well as the larger Global Conference.
  • Assists in the development of budget for content and programming as related to the goals and objectives of programming.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of five (5) years of related work experience preferably in a professional society, trade association, program management, or healthcare environment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Communications, Healthcare, or a related field.  A Masters’ degree is a bonus in a healthcare-related field.
  • Relevant health IT, association management or project management certification preferred but not required.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with an attention to detail, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
