Your Day-to-Day:
Employees in this role lead a team of engineers and technical specialists that perform engineering functions.
This job is responsible for applying diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to a broad variety of assignments and related fields. Employees in this role evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional renewable generation substation projects. This role provides direction on projects to the department or project team members.
Travel between worksites and other locations is an essential job function and expectation of the position. You must hold a valid driver's license. Selected candidates will be expected to spend a portion of their time attending meetings at other worksites or in the field. Those selected for a Substation project engineering position will occasionally be required to drive to various renewable generation substations projects across Florida.
Job Duties & Responsibilities include:
- All assigned renewable generation substation projects from conception (Early Stage) through construction and commissioning (Execution).
- In the conceptual phase, you will work with the Early-Stage Project Manager to support the engineering requirements and scope with the Development Group. Projects can begin as FERC 1000 competitive transmission project proposals, or as greenfield projects for NEE affiliates.
- Plans, coordinates, and completes large-scale or several medium or small, complex, or long-term project(s) within budgetary and scheduling guidelines.
- Develops detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports.
- Secures required resources and uses formal processes and tools to manage resources, budgets, risks, and changes.
- Conducts project meetings and is responsible for project tracking and analysis.
- Identifies issues and challenges, measures, and validates results, and implements solutions.
- Provides information to internal and external clients on moderate to complex issues.
- Creates and communicates presentation materials for report out and updates with various levels of internal and external stakeholders.
- Training, due diligence, and technical oversight of external engineers of record (EOR) for all assigned substation projects to ensure compliance with required generation interconnection agreements, scope of work documents, project specifications, site specific design requirements, IEEE, NESC, ASCE and all other applicable industry codes and standards.
