Shift Supervisor
Location: Huntsville, AL
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Shift Supervisor to lead production operations and ensure the safe, efficient, and high-quality output of products. Reporting directly to the Production Manager, the Shift Supervisor is responsible for organizing resources, maintaining schedules, and upholding quality standards while fostering teamwork and continuous improvement on the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Operations
• Organize and direct all resources to meet production schedules and quality requirements.
• Monitor schedule adherence; take corrective action or escalate issues to the Production Manager when needed.
• Verify that all products meet approved “First-off” and established quality standards.
• Ensure production processes remain stable and within tolerance requirements outlined in QIR.
• Assign trained personnel to appropriate work cells and plant duties.
• Maintain accurate and complete shift production reports.
• Enforce procedures for Quality Assurance, Inventory Control, and Production Control.
• Ensure preventive maintenance is completed on tools and equipment.
Leadership & Team Development
• Provide on-the-floor leadership to drive productivity, morale, and safety.
• Maintain consistently high housekeeping standards across the shop floor.
• Work with the Production Manager and Human Resources to hire skilled employees, provide training, and enforce disciplinary actions when needed.
• Promote a positive, efficient, and safe working environment.
Quality & Safety
• Ensure parts produced conform to quality standards and tolerances.
• Uphold compliance with Quality & Environmental Management System procedures.
• Verify proper labeling, forms, tags, and documentation are in use.
• Enforce safety policies and ensure only trained individuals operate equipment or perform specialized duties.
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
Required Skills
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Solid understanding of materials and production processes.
• Knowledge of Quality & Environmental Management Systems and related documentation (forms, tags, and labels).
• Proven ability to lead teams effectively in a fast-paced environment.
