About the role

ssential Job Functions 

  • Train new employees in process operations and production equipment operation according to SOP and batch card instructions 
  • Assign work to chemical operators, as necessary 
  • Hands-on supervision of pharmaceutical / chemical operators in assigned work area 
  • Oversee the manufacturing/packaging processes as required 
  • Routinely work with hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals and waste 
  • Facilitate the proper handling and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste and material  
  • Perform in-process and final product Quality inspections including torque tests, fill levels, labeling reviews, carton packing, etc. as applicable  
  • Review and approve batch cards upon completion.  Coordinate necessary GMP/GDP corrections. 
  • Ensure all Deviations and Corrective Action Requests are properly investigated and documented per governing procedures 
  • Responsible for the ongoing training of operators and related documentation 
  • Responsible for safety and housekeeping of the facility and areas assigned 
  • Ensure department equipment and facilities are properly maintained 
  • Order spare parts, etc. for equipment, as requested by mechanics and/or other managers 
  • Assist in overall continuous improvement processes in the areas of quality, safety and production 
  • Responsible for training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; enforcing policies and procedures 
  • Responsible for performance evaluations of Production team members and for providing training and development opportunities for those inside the department 

EHS 

  • Promotes company safety culture 
  • Understands and enforces safety, health and environment SOP’s and policies 
  • Adheres to wearing the proper PPE/Safety equipment at all times 
  • Maintains the highest level of housekeeping 
  • Attends all required scheduled Health, Safety and Environmental training sessions 
  • Participates in required Health, Safety and Environmental initiatives and programs 
  • Performs required administrative functions related to Health, Safety and Environmental functions such as completing forms, checklists and log sheets  

Qualifications 

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably in Chemicals or similar industry. 
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a production supervisory or managerial role. 
  • Ability to lead, motivate and develop a team –  
  • Ability to effectively communicate with employees - engage and motivate, enhancing performance 
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills 
  • High attention to detail 
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills – ability to interface and communicate/collaborate at all levels internally and externally 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Strong organizational skills 
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills 
  • Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timetables 
  • Flexible- adapt to changing tasks and expectations 
  • Computer literate and proficient with MS Office programs   

Desired Skills 

  • ERP/MRP software experience 
  • Knowledge of FDA cGMP’s, ISO, OSHA and EPA standards and requirements.  GMP/GDP training will be provided 

Education/Certifications 

  • A.S. Degree highly desirable 
  • B.S. Degree preferred.
