Senior Data Engineer (AWNTS)

IT Concepts is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to support the Social Security Administration (SSA) in Woodlawn, MD. The Office of the General Counsel (OGC) requires contractor support to develop data systems and business intelligence products and solutions and expand its advanced analytics knowledge and data science skills. OGC requests subject matter experts with the technical expertise to support data analytics initiatives tied to OGC’s reorganization and implementation of a new matter management and data system (OMMS) and transition of legacy LAWS data into OMMS.

Duties and responsibilities

• Expanding capabilities to provide analysis and visualizations on strategic use cases aligned to stakeholder needs and to OGC strategic plans.
• Designing and developing data products to support and enhance Business Intelligence (BI) capabilities.
• Creating analytical models including forecasting, predictive and Natural Language Processing (NLP) models to streamline and optimize OGC’s legal services and operations.
• Creating and administering advanced visualizations and dashboards for all OGC Offices.
• Developing analysis required to respond to executive management queries.
• Data manipulation and data engineering experience involving structured and unstructured data.
• Data manipulation expertise involving data extractions, data matching between multiple systems, transformations, cleansing, and loading.
• Ability to engineer and create complex research datasets by manipulating typically a large volume of transactional data for use by operations research analysts, economists and statisticians in advanced analytical research and studies.
• Experience in interpreting results from statistical and mathematical models.
• Experience in advanced data visualizations and interpretation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of experience OR Master’s degree and 3+ years of experience
• Experience translating high-level project requirements into technical tasks.
• Data manipulation and data engineering experience involving structured and unstructured data.
• Data Modeling skills – understanding of ER modeling.
• Data manipulation expertise involving data extractions, data matching between multiple systems, transformations, cleansing, and loading.
• Experience with big data and cloud platforms and toolset.
• Ability to engineer and create integrated “easy to use” data products by manipulating typical large volume transactional data for use by the OGC stakeholders for analysis and reporting.
• Perform data quality and stewardship of legal operations data.
• Experience with big data and AWS is desired but not required.
• Experience with Python.

• Expertise with SQL (preferable in distributed environment, e.g., Greenplum, SQL Server, PostgreSQL)
• Experience with independently developing complex Tableau dashboards.
