A. Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. (AMT) is seeking a highly motivated Project Engineer for our growing Transportation Team in the firm’s Charlotte, North Carolina office. Qualified candidates will possess a minimum of 5 years of experience working on roadway and rail-related design projects for NCDOT, City of Charlotte, and other state and municipal agencies.

Responsibilities
- The selected candidate will be responsible for leading the design of multi-disciplined roadway and transit-related projects, coordinating with other design disciplines, adhering to project budgets and schedules, mentoring and overseeing the work of junior engineers/technicians and preparing roadway, transit, sidewalk/trail and storm drainage construction plans for a variety of infrastructure improvement projects.
- Projects may include the following design and support tasks: roadway, transit (including rail), sidewalk and trail design; open and closed system storm drainage design; stormwater management design; erosion and sediment control plans; Transportation Management Plans; signing and pavement marking plans; traffic and pedestrian signal plans; quantity and cost estimating; utility adjustment plans and coordination; and other engineering design and support tasks related to the development of Transportation infrastructure construction plans.
Minimum Qualifications
- EIT Required - NC PE license preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of Roadway and Rail design experience
- Technically proficient with Microstation and OpenRoads/OpenRail Designer
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and lead a design team
- Must possess strong communication skills, both written and oral
